The Woodstock Area is the perfect place for a relaxing day by the water. The Ottauquechee River right through the center of town, so no matter where you walk, you'll have a pretty view of rushing water moving over ancient glacial rocks. The Kedron Brook parallels the community to the south along route 106 and offers cool, shady spots with the sound of rushing water. Stop at Teagle's Landing for a picnic.

If you're looking for recreational lap swimming, The Woodstock Recreation Center on River Street offers classes and two outdoor pools to the public. If you're looking for an indoor pool, the Woodstock Athletic Club. 

Swimming in Silver Lake

Silver Lake State Park, just eight miles north in Barnard, Vermont offers Swimming, Kayak, and Canoe rentals as well as Paddle Board rentals. Or you can join the locals down by the Barnard General Store at the corner of the Stage Road and Route 12. Canoes and kayaks may be launched here and the beach is small but welcoming.

Various swimming holes on the Ottauquechee River offer a fun for a quick dip if its steamy out there. The Kedron Valley Inn in South Woodstock has fresh water pond open to the public for a small fee. Chaise lounges and a sandy beach provide an especially nice place for smaller children to get used to open water swimming.
