Marjorie Southgate Vail, Information Booth Staff
Marge, as we know her, grew up in the Woodstock Area and worked for
thirty years at the Norman Williams Library. After she retired, she joined
the Information Booth Staff in 1995. "I love talking to visitors and meeting
new people at the Booth." |
Jean Conklin, Information Booth Staff
"With the exception of 10 years away at school and work I have lived in
Woodstock for 66 years. My family moved here from the Northeast Kingdom;
the great little town of Barnet just south of St. Johnsbury, when I was 7
years old. The ten years I have worked at the Information Booth has just
flown by since I have always enjoyed being there. My husband Albert and I
have been farmers; we have three grown sons, five grandchildren and one
great grandchild. I enjoyed 16 years as a teacher and an equal number as a
town lister. Woodstock's friendly people, beautiful houses, great library
and the lack of national chain stores and neon lights make it a haven." |

Ginny Christy, Information Booth Staff
Ginny has lived in Woodstock for 36 years and has been greeting visitors
to the area for 16 years. Prior to that, she worked at the Library and
wished to continue helping people with their questions. She says, "I moved
here from Pennsylvania and fell in love with Vermont while vacationing here.
The best thing about Woodstock is the people: they are responsible for its
beauty and sense of community. I enjoy making travelers welcome and tell
them about the history and beauty of our village. This includes informing
you of our lodging and dining choices as well as places to visit." |
Don Wheeler, Information Booth Staff
Don Wheeler was born and raised in Woodstock and has lived here for 88
years. "I am a World War II veteran, serving in the European theater for 36
months. I have worked in the Information Booth for 15+ years. For several
years, I took visitors on the historic walking tour of the village. I
particularly enjoy telling tourists about the old houses and the people who
have lived in them." |

Leo Desmond, Information Booth Staff
"I have worked at the booth for 5 years and have had property here since
1986. When I retired in 1999, we came here from Milton, MA. My wife Miriam
and I love the clean, fresh air, the green mountain landscape and the
peaceful, relaxed living that the Woodstock area provides. I particularly
like the late eighteenth century architecture of the town. I enjoy telling
the visitors about the history of Woodstock and providing them places to
visit, places to stay at and restaurants to eat at. It is very satisfying to
be able to make your vacation more enjoyable." |
Sherry Wian, Information Booth Staff
Sherry Wian worked as a college librarian before coming to Woodstock about
ten years ago. "I now work at the Norman Williams Library here in town.
Originally from Boston, I came to Woodstock via Florida! This is my second
summer working at the Information Booth. Woodstock looks like a movie set.
Not only is it beautiful, but there is a serenity about it. It seems that
people choose to be here and lead a certain lifestyle." photo pending |
