SUMMARY:Focus on Europe - A photo exhibit
DESCRIPTION:Focus – A Vermont Gallery is pleased to present Focus on Europe\, a photography exhibition featuring the work of Loren Fisher and Bob Wagner. Drawn from their travels across five remarkable countries\, this special collection invites viewers on a visual journey through some of the most iconic and intimate corners of the European continent\, from the windswept Atlantic coastlines of Iceland and Ireland to the sun-drenched landscapes of Spain\, France\, and Italy. \nLoren and Bob bring distinct yet complementary eyes to their subjects\, finding beauty in both the grand and the quietly overlooked. Their images range from the glittering canals of Venice and the ancient grandeur of Spain’s Alhambra to a weathered wooden door\, a field of Provençal lavender in full bloom\, and the thundering face of an Icelandic waterfall. Together\, the photographs form a rich and cohesive portrait of Europe and its light\, its history\, its color\, and its enduring sense of wonder. \nFocus on Europe is on view now through June 12 at Focus – A Vermont Gallery in Woodstock\, Vermont. The public is warmly invited to meet the photographers at an opening reception on Saturday\, May 3. Join us for art\, conversation\, and celebration of the extraordinary places that inspire us to travel and to look more closely at the world around us.

SUMMARY:Hall Art Foundation Exhibition: A Farewell to the Western World
DESCRIPTION:The Hall Art Foundation is pleased to announce a group exhibition\, A Farewell to the Western World\, to be held in Reading\, Vermont from 9 May – 29 November 2026. Borrowing its title from a painting by the acclaimed Romanian artist Adrian Ghenie\, A Farewell to the Western World gathers approximately 70 artworks in painting\, drawing\, sculpture and photography that depict imagery suggestive of global shifts and an irreverence towards systems of established order. By tracing patterns of conflict\, power\, and sociopolitical upheaval that have concerned artists globally\, A Farewell to the Western World questions established constructs like West versus East. As authoritarian tendencies last seen almost a century ago appear to be in ascendancy\, assumptions of “history ending” and liberal democracy are similarly challenged. Although these often-stark images illustrate the consequences of their time\, they underscore a humbling reminder that every generation determines its own reckoning.

SUMMARY:Christian Marclay: Made To Be Destroyed
DESCRIPTION:The Hall Art Foundation is pleased to announce the exhibition\, Christian Marclay: Made To Be Destroyed to be presented in Reading\, Vermont from 9 May – 29 November 2026. Marclay is a Swiss-American artist whose 40-year career spans video\, performance\, photography and installation. He is perhaps best known for film collages that transform often overlooked aspects in cinema into fantastic explorations of everyday themes. Made To Be Destroyed (2016) is a compilation of scenes in which both real and fictional artworks are smeared\, broken\, torn\, toppled\, burned\, or otherwise damaged. Strategically interweaved by Marclay under a cacophony of sounds\, the actions are either intrinsic to the process of creation\, or haphazard and intentionally violent\, or both.
