SUMMARY:Art & Film: Anselm
DESCRIPTION:In Anselm\, Wim Wenders creates a hypnotic portrait of Anselm Kiefer\, one of the most innovative and important painters and sculptors of our time. Shot in 6K resolution\, and presented theatrically and on Blu-ray in 3D\, the film presents an immersive cinematic experience of the German artist’s work\, which explores the overawing beauty of human existence\, landscape\, and myth while confronting the horrors of his country’s history and seeking to undo the postwar silence in which both artist and director came of age. Through archival footage\, biographical scenes\, and direct access to his subject at work amid the massive installation in France where he now lives among his creations\, Wenders traces the arc of Kiefer’s career\, provoking an engagement with creativity through the senses\, the intellect\, and the spirit.

SUMMARY:Woodstock Repair Café
DESCRIPTION:A Repair Café is a free community event where neighbors bring in broken\, worn\, or beloved-but-well-used items and skilled volunteers help repair and restore them\, keeping still-usable items out of landfills. Think small appliances\, clothing repairs\, furniture fixes\, bicycle tune-ups\, sharpening\, soldering\, you name it. If it’s busted\, we’ll try to help you fix it. \n\n\n\nA few of the items folks plan to bring: toasters\, computers\, vacuums\, lamps\, toys and stuffies\, shirts and sweaters for mending… With your help\, we can empower people to make small fixes themselves\, save items that might otherwise end up in a landfill\, and build connections along the way. Join your friends and neighbors – there will be activities for the whole family! \n\n\n\nThis first Woodstock Repair Café is co-hosted by Sustainable Woodstock\, The Bunny Bin\, & NWPL. Free and open to all. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nA few guidelines: \n\n\n\nBring your own parts – plugs\, wires\, bolts\, buttons\, table legs\, etc. \n\n\n\nNo appointment is needed; you sign up for repairs at each station.  Repairs run first come\, first served. Each station will start with one repair per person\, and if time allows\, we’ll gladly take a second. \n\n\n\nTo keep things manageable: if you can’t carry it\, please don’t bring it! \n\n\n\nNote: By bringing an item\, you agree that Norman Williams Public Library\, The Bunny Bin\, Sustainable Woodstock\, and our volunteers assume no liability for injury\, damage\, loss\, or unsuccessful repair. All repairs are best-effort\, as-is. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nBut this isn’t only about the fixes. In keeping with our mission\, we’re hoping to foster a community where neighbors help neighbors\, and where local tradespeople and small businesses can connect with those who need them. Stay in touch with the volunteers you meet. They may be happy to take on paid work afterward\, and that’s exactly the kind of connection this event is designed to foster. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nWe could use a few more fixers\, tinkerers\, menders\, and makers in our community to help bring this first Woodstock Repair Café to life. Please reach out to Programs@NormanWilliams.org.

SUMMARY:Unearth A Story's Ending & Potato Harvest Shindig
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to celebrate the stories you discovered this summer and harvest the Potato Plot! \n\n\n\nJoin us at the Norman Williams Public Library on Saturday\, September 26\, from 11 am to 1 pm for “Unearth a Story’s Ending” and our “Potato Harvest Shindig.” The Summer Reading Program Raffle Drawing will be at noon; to enter\, be sure you have turned in your reading logs. \n\n\n\nGathering on our west lawn for the festivities\, we’ll begin the party with Sack Racing\, carving Potato Stamps\, and other fun spud-themed activities. (If it is stormy\, we’ll move inside the library.) \n\n\n\nWe’re collecting Potato Puns & Poems\, and maybe a joke or three… Stop by the Children’s room to share your favorite or create your own. \n\n\n\nAs a special treat\, we invite you to enjoy the French Fry bar (while supplies last) – what better way to eat potatoes? \n\n\n\nThen it will be time to harvest the potatoes\, and we need your help to dig them out of the dirt. Who knows what fun you may unearth…
