SUMMARY:The Sharon Sprouty 5K 10K Run Walk
DESCRIPTION:Sharon\, VT – The Annual Sharon Sprouty 5K and 10K Run/ Walk is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Saturday\, September 12th\, 2026. This celebrated community event is held at the Sharon Elementary School at 135 School Street\, Sharon\, Vermont 05065.  \n  \nThe goal of The Sprouty is to grow a strong and healthy community. Now in its 15th year\, this event engages nearly 100 volunteers and an average of 181 participants annually. It’s a featured race of the Upper Valley Running Club series\, and many people travel to run or walk the course that traverses through the village\, around the school\, and past the White River. Many longtime and new business donors help to support its mission and make it possible to put on a great event and make an annual contribution to the Sharon Elementary School.  \n  \nThe event itself promotes exercise and community connections. Children 12 and under can run or walk the 5K for free\, and after the main race\, there is a free kids’ fun run with prizes for everyone. The Seven Stars Community Fiddle Band\, led by Emerson Gale\, plays lively music as volunteers set up snacks and water\, and the runners come through the finish line\, and many local food purveyors donate delicious treats for everyone to refuel. Every participant and attendee receives one free ticket to our local goods and services raffle. The top three winners in the male and female categories for the 5K and 10K each win an amazing prize basket with local gift certificates and goods. All participants receive a lettuce plant donated by Dandelion Acres in Bethel\, VT\, and a pair of Sprouty socks. \n  \nThe Sprouty seeks to grow a strong and healthy community in Sharon and at the Elementary School by supporting the school gardens and compost system. Donations help teachers obtain materials and training to teach about food and nutrition. Students learn about their local fields\, forests\, and waterways with teachers and community partners. Field trips to farms and outdoor sites\, and cooking foods from the garden and other local produce are also a part of each school year. All of this would not be possible without the annual donation from The Sprouty Race. \n  \nRunners and walkers can sign up online through August 21th at https://www.thesprouty.com/ with a price increase beginning after that date. Same-day registration is available between 7:45 and 8:45 AM under the tent. 5K run or walk $20\, 10K run $25\, kids 12 and under register for free for the 5K run or walk.

SUMMARY:Woodstock Art Festival
DESCRIPTION:Spend a September weekend surrounded by original art in the heart of Woodstock. The annual Woodstock Art Festival brings together more than 30 New England artists for a two-day outdoor exhibition on the Village Green\, offering a rare opportunity to view and purchase work directly from the people who created it. \nThis is a show focused on quality and connection. You will find a carefully selected range of work\, including oil paintings\, watercolors\, pottery\, photography\, and sculpture. Whether you are an experienced collector or simply looking for a piece that feels right in your home\, the setting encourages you to take your time\, ask questions\, and discover work that resonates. \nEarly fall is one of the most beautiful times to visit Woodstock\, and the show reflects that seasonal shift. The light\, the pace of the weekend\, and the atmosphere on the Green all come together to create a relaxed and engaging experience. Live music\, local food\, and regional spirits add to the day without taking attention away from the art itself. \nMany visitors return each year\, building relationships with artists and adding to their collections over time. Others come for the first time and leave with a piece that becomes part of their home for years to come. \nEvent Details \n\nDates: Saturday\, September 12 and Sunday\, September 13\, 2026\nLocation: Village Green\, Woodstock\, Vermont\nHours: 10-5 Saturday\, 10-4 Sunday\n\nCome explore\, take your time\, and find something you will want to live with.

SUMMARY:Artist Talk: In Conversation with Aaron Curry
DESCRIPTION:Join Los Angeles-based artist\, Aaron Curry (b. 1972) in conversation about his sculpture\, “Danny Skullface Sky Boat (Reclining)” (2009)\, newly installed on our grounds. Curry describes his work as collage-based and significantly influenced by elements in popular culture\, including his background in music\, science fiction and comic books. As a teenager\, Curry was attracted to the design of guitars\, record albums\, action figures and skateboards displaying colors and forms inspired by 20th century sculpture and modernism. References to the sculptures of Alexander Calder abound in his work\, including curvy biomorphic shapes and vibrant palettes. Each ticket grants admission to our galleries from 2:30pm for self-guided visitation of our exhibitions\, and to the talk starting at 4pm. Galleries close at 4pm. Space is limited and registration is required.

SUMMARY:Art & Film: Anselm
DESCRIPTION:In Anselm\, Wim Wenders creates a hypnotic portrait of Anselm Kiefer\, one of the most innovative and important painters and sculptors of our time. Shot in 6K resolution\, and presented theatrically and on Blu-ray in 3D\, the film presents an immersive cinematic experience of the German artist’s work\, which explores the overawing beauty of human existence\, landscape\, and myth while confronting the horrors of his country’s history and seeking to undo the postwar silence in which both artist and director came of age. Through archival footage\, biographical scenes\, and direct access to his subject at work amid the massive installation in France where he now lives among his creations\, Wenders traces the arc of Kiefer’s career\, provoking an engagement with creativity through the senses\, the intellect\, and the spirit.

SUMMARY:Woodstock Repair Café
DESCRIPTION:A Repair Café is a free community event where neighbors bring in broken\, worn\, or beloved-but-well-used items and skilled volunteers help repair and restore them\, keeping still-usable items out of landfills. Think small appliances\, clothing repairs\, furniture fixes\, bicycle tune-ups\, sharpening\, soldering\, you name it. If it’s busted\, we’ll try to help you fix it. \n\n\n\nA few of the items folks plan to bring: toasters\, computers\, vacuums\, lamps\, toys and stuffies\, shirts and sweaters for mending… With your help\, we can empower people to make small fixes themselves\, save items that might otherwise end up in a landfill\, and build connections along the way. Join your friends and neighbors – there will be activities for the whole family! \n\n\n\nThis first Woodstock Repair Café is co-hosted by Sustainable Woodstock\, The Bunny Bin\, & NWPL. Free and open to all. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nA few guidelines: \n\n\n\nBring your own parts – plugs\, wires\, bolts\, buttons\, table legs\, etc. \n\n\n\nNo appointment is needed; you sign up for repairs at each station.  Repairs run first come\, first served. Each station will start with one repair per person\, and if time allows\, we’ll gladly take a second. \n\n\n\nTo keep things manageable: if you can’t carry it\, please don’t bring it! \n\n\n\nNote: By bringing an item\, you agree that Norman Williams Public Library\, The Bunny Bin\, Sustainable Woodstock\, and our volunteers assume no liability for injury\, damage\, loss\, or unsuccessful repair. All repairs are best-effort\, as-is. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nBut this isn’t only about the fixes. In keeping with our mission\, we’re hoping to foster a community where neighbors help neighbors\, and where local tradespeople and small businesses can connect with those who need them. Stay in touch with the volunteers you meet. They may be happy to take on paid work afterward\, and that’s exactly the kind of connection this event is designed to foster. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nWe could use a few more fixers\, tinkerers\, menders\, and makers in our community to help bring this first Woodstock Repair Café to life. Please reach out to Programs@NormanWilliams.org.
