SUMMARY:Woodstock Repair Café
DESCRIPTION:A Repair Café is a free community event where neighbors bring in broken\, worn\, or beloved-but-well-used items and skilled volunteers help repair and restore them\, keeping still-usable items out of landfills. Think small appliances\, clothing repairs\, furniture fixes\, bicycle tune-ups\, sharpening\, soldering\, you name it. If it’s busted\, we’ll try to help you fix it. \n\n\n\nA few of the items folks plan to bring: toasters\, computers\, vacuums\, lamps\, toys and stuffies\, shirts and sweaters for mending… With your help\, we can empower people to make small fixes themselves\, save items that might otherwise end up in a landfill\, and build connections along the way. Join your friends and neighbors – there will be activities for the whole family! \n\n\n\nThis first Woodstock Repair Café is co-hosted by Sustainable Woodstock\, The Bunny Bin\, & NWPL. Free and open to all. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nA few guidelines: \n\n\n\nBring your own parts – plugs\, wires\, bolts\, buttons\, table legs\, etc. \n\n\n\nNo appointment is needed; you sign up for repairs at each station.  Repairs run first come\, first served. Each station will start with one repair per person\, and if time allows\, we’ll gladly take a second. \n\n\n\nTo keep things manageable: if you can’t carry it\, please don’t bring it! \n\n\n\nNote: By bringing an item\, you agree that Norman Williams Public Library\, The Bunny Bin\, Sustainable Woodstock\, and our volunteers assume no liability for injury\, damage\, loss\, or unsuccessful repair. All repairs are best-effort\, as-is. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nBut this isn’t only about the fixes. In keeping with our mission\, we’re hoping to foster a community where neighbors help neighbors\, and where local tradespeople and small businesses can connect with those who need them. Stay in touch with the volunteers you meet. They may be happy to take on paid work afterward\, and that’s exactly the kind of connection this event is designed to foster. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nWe could use a few more fixers\, tinkerers\, menders\, and makers in our community to help bring this first Woodstock Repair Café to life. Please reach out to Programs@NormanWilliams.org.

SUMMARY:Rock n Rolling Hills Dream Theatre Open Studio Tour
DESCRIPTION:This fall\, artist and creature designer Kris Manning invites the public into The Dream Theatre\, a one-of-a-kind working studio nestled within Rock n Rolling Hills Farm\, for Vermont Crafts Council’s Open Studio Weekend\, Loop #10. Blurring the line between fine art\, fabrication\, and cinematic world-building\, Manning’s work transforms a traditional Vermont horse barn into an imaginative\, immersive environment filled with handcrafted creatures\, sculptural inventions\, and richly detailed visual worlds. Visitors will step inside a space where art feels as though it has emerged from a film set. Each piece is meticulously built with the same level of craftsmanship and storytelling found in high-end creature design for the screen. \n\n\n\nKnown for work in the film industry\, including creature fabrication for major franchises\, Manning brings that same approach to original artwork. The studio showcases a wide range of disciplines from sculptural creatures and kinetic pieces to paintings\, mixed-media works\, and experimental builds that often incorporate reclaimed and repurposed materials sourced locally in Vermont. \n\n\n\nThe Open Studio offers a rare opportunity to experience the creative process up close. Guests can explore the evolving world of Manning’s upcoming projects\, including a large scale immersive exhibition currently in development\, as well as a growing field guide of original creatures that expands the mythology of The Dream Theatre. At its core\, the work is rooted in curiosity\, wonder\, and the idea that imagination can be made tangible. Each piece invites viewers not just to observe\, but to enter into hidden systems\, unseen worlds\, and stories waiting to be discovered. \n\n\n\nEvent Details: The Dream Theatre at Rock n Rolling Hills Farm707 Bowman Road\, Barnard\, VT Dates: October 3 & 4\, 2026 Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM\, Loop #10 Visitors are encouraged to come curious. SUMMARY:Sensoria: Attending to the Wonder and Vitality of Nature
DESCRIPTION:From the mating calls of chorus frogs to elephant funerary rites to the memory-rich tastes of place\, Sensoria: Attending to the Wonder and Vitality of Nature is a collection of writing that offers an immersion in the sensual experiences of seeing\, hearing\, touching\, tasting\, and smelling – and their interactions\, combinations\, and more-than-human manifestations.  \n\n\n\nDiscover the wonder of the senses with Gavin Van Horn\, executive editor\, and Heather Swan\, poetry editor\, who will talk about this rich and timely new book at the Norman Williams Public Library on Saturday\, October 3\, at 2 pm\, co-hosted by the Yankee Bookshop. \n\n\n\nThe contributors to Sensoria – composers\, historians\, philosophers\, filmmakers\, neuro-ethologists\, poets\, novelists – explore the biology and neurology of sensation to understand relations in everyday encounters that link our inner and outer awareness; how our embodied experiences shape what we perceive and the way these perceptions can help us attend more closely and respectfully to the worlds of other-than-human creatures. \n\n\n\n+++ \n\n\n\nGavin Van Horn\, PhD\, is the executive editor of Humans & Nature Press Books\, author of The Way of Coyote\, and co-editor of several award-winning volumes. He currently resides in San Luis Obispo\, California\, where you can find him wandering the nearby hills and shores\, senses awakened by sage\, hummingbirds\, and ocean air. \n\n\n\nHeather Swan\, PhD\, a poet and nonfiction writer\, is the author of Where the Grass Still Sings: Stories of Insects and Interconnection and Where Honeybees Thrive: Stories from the Field\, as well as two poetry collections. She teaches environmental literature and writing in Madison\, Wisconsin.
