Local Pottery Everyone Will Love
Whether shopping for unique yet functional kitchenware, a special gift for a friend, or for classes to learn the craft yourself, these three local potters and their workshops are sure to wow.
MIRANDA THOMAS POTTERY
Her pottery studio, part of Shakleton Thomas, is located at the historic Bridgewater Mill in Bridgewater off of Route 4, also where her husband Thomas Shakleton’s furniture workshop resides.
Her pieces are inspired from the English countryside (think hopping rabbits, painted blue fish, and floral carvings), as well as patterns and symbols from ancient Japanese, Middle Eastern and Aboriginal designs. Passionate about creating beautiful high-quality products with everyday uses, she uses handmade techniques to instill her pieces with character and life.
Each piece is made from start to finish by the same person and is decorated by painting or carving, all by hand, so expect to walk away with something one of a kind.
LAURA WHITE POTTERY
Started in 2017, Laura’s pieces are inspired by everyday life and made out of her home. Her pieces are simple and beautiful, meant to live comfortably on your counters. You’ll find her bowls, mugs, vases, and more for sale at the Billings Farm & Museum‘s gift shop, the farm store at Cloudland Farm, and in the warmer months, you can meet the artist face-to-face at Woodstock’s Market on the Green.

Bonus: All of her pieces are not only oven and microwave safe, they are also dishwasher safe.
FARMHOUSE POTTERY
Owned by James and Zoe Zilian, their shop and pottery studio are located on Route 4 between Woodstock and Bridgewater. Rooted in the process and authenticity, the products speak for themselves with each piece being handmade by artisans using Old World techniques and simple tools.
At Farmhouse Pottery’s airy studio, you will find a simple elegant collection of homegoods, everything from kitchenware to hand loomed linens, as well as wood and glass products, and most recently furniture.
They also offer workshops in their pottery studio where you can learn about traditional pottery making and take a turn behind the wheel.
