The film series opens with a celebration of Vermont filmmakers, featuring two powerful short films that highlight the artistry, compassion, and vision of local storytellers. La Liga shares the inspiring story of Vermont’s immigrant dairy workers who, amidst isolation and hardship, form a soccer league to build community and hope. The film reflects on resilience and the sense of belonging among those who sustain Vermont’s farms. Stories to Save Us: The Saltmarsh Sparrow follows the struggle of a small coastal bird pushed toward extinction by rising tides and habitat loss. Through stunning visuals, filmmakers Matt Aeberhard and Melanie Finn explore the beauty of the natural world and the urgent need to protect it.
The Woodstock Vermont Film Series is dedicated to sharing place-based stories of people near and far, engaging our audiences, and inspiring conversations that increase connections with each other and our world. Films will be screened at the Billings Farm & Museum Visitor Center Theater. Tickets are $15 for all regular screenings, and $12 for Billings Farm & Museum members.
